Privacy Policy — Kepta

Last updated: 26 July 2026

Kepta is a notification archive that runs entirely on your phone. This policy explains exactly what it stores, where it stays, and what it never does.

Kepta is published by Imperfect (Perfecto Gardoce). Because no data ever leaves your device, the developer has no access to anything Kepta records.

The short version

Kepta stores your notifications only on your own device. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is shared, and there is no account, server, or analytics of any kind. The developer cannot see your data, because it never leaves your phone.

What Kepta reads

To do its job, Kepta uses Android’s Notification Access permission. Android delivers every notification your phone shows to any app holding that permission, so Kepta technically receives all of them.

By default it only saves notifications that are actual messages — those an app sends using Android’s messaging notification format. Everything else, including games, promotions, delivery updates and system alerts, is discarded immediately and never written to storage.

Messaging apps are recorded automatically so that a conversation is not lost before you notice the app exists. You can switch off any app, or any individual conversation, in Settings → Apps. Turning one off stops all further recording from it.

For the apps you enable, Kepta stores:

Alerts, if you ask for them

Non-message notifications — game announcements, promotions, delivery updates, system notices — are never recorded unless you switch them on for a specific app in Settings → Apps. They are off for every app until you say otherwise.

When you do switch one on, Kepta stores that app’s notification title, body text, the time it arrived, and any attached image. These are kept in a separate Alerts tab, apart from your conversations, and are covered by the same retention settings and the same delete controls as everything else. Switching the app back off stops all further recording from it.

What Kepta never does

Where your data is stored

Everything is written to Kepta’s private storage area on your device, which Android isolates from other apps. Preview images and cached app icons are saved as files in that same private area.

What you control

How long it is kept

You control this in Settings → Storage and retention. By default, message text is kept for one year and photos for 30 days. Anything older is deleted automatically. You can change both, delete all photos, delete a single conversation, or erase everything at any time.

Uninstalling Kepta permanently deletes everything it stored.

Sharing and exporting

Kepta can hand a single message or photo to Android’s system share sheet, and can export a conversation as a text file. When you do this, you choose the destination app, and the content leaves Kepta’s control at that point — it is then governed by whatever app you sent it to. Kepta never shares anything on its own, and nothing is shared unless you explicitly ask for it.

Protecting your archive

Kepta can require your fingerprint or screen lock before opening (Settings → App lock), and can blank its preview in the Recents screen. Both are off by default and are yours to enable.

Because Kepta holds private conversations, turning on App lock is strongly recommended if other people have physical access to your phone.

Other people’s messages

Kepta saves notifications sent to you. Those notifications often contain messages written by other people, who have not agreed to being archived. Please use it responsibly, respect the privacy of the people who message you, and follow the laws in your country about recording communications.

Kepta is not designed to monitor another person, and must not be used that way.

Age

Kepta is intended for adults (18 and over). It is not directed at children, and handling other people’s private messages responsibly requires adult judgement.

Your rights

Since Kepta holds no data outside your device, there is nothing for the developer to disclose, correct, export, or delete on your behalf — you already hold complete control through the app’s own settings. Uninstalling removes everything.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published here and the date at the top revised.
